During her time at UCLA, Hanna worked for four years as a shop technician, developing a deep understanding of materials, construction processes, and the relationship between design and execution. She also served as Social Chair for her department, and taught both teenagers and graduate students architectural software and workflows. Her master’s thesis, A Space of Shared Experience, examined Japanese tea houses as a social and spatial framework, proposing ways to translate the tea house across cultural and temporal boundaries into contemporary architectural practice. This research was presented at both UCLA and the University of Kyoto through a collaboration with UCLA xLABs.
