La Cocina
La Cocina is a non-profit business incubator supporting low-income women food entrepreneurs from communities of color and immigrant communities. The heart of their facility’s main floor is a communal kitchen for these new business owners to produce their specialties outside of their home kitchens, share their expertise, and establish their brands. What a simple and brilliant idea: help women with a unique knowledge of the intersection of food and culture to support themselves and their families. We were hooked.
Our commitment to La Cocina’s work has include the James Beard Award-winning restaurant design of El Pípila: Guardians of Guanajuatan Cuisine in San Francisco, and the design for La Guerrera’s Kitchen: Maiz Warriors in Oakland’s renowned Swan’s Market. Please contact us for more detailed information.
